 7The artists
The artists featured in this book are those that have had a long relationship with Stone Dynamics Gallery and they represent significant and famous names in Zimbabwe Stone Sculpture. Their work is varied but gives the reader an insight into the diversity and complexity of the sculpture. Sadly, some of the artists have passed away but I have included them because I believe it is important to know the value these artists contributed both to the African and international world of art.
It has been impossible to include all the artists I have worked with in this book though each one is worthy of mention. These include artists such as Basilio Chayabandi, Brighton Layson, Eddie Chiwawa, Edward Masaya, Garison Machinjilli, Norbert Shamuyarira, and the late Brighton Sango, Joram Mariga, Jonathan Gutsa, Joseph Ndandarika, John and Bernard Takawira and Moses Masaya, whose art has been represented by Stone Dynamics Gallery.
I thank them all, past and present, for their contribution and for our enduring relationship.
