DB: Which areas do you most love to visit , and where did this all start?
Kasane and Chobe National Park definitely, where my father gave me my first pair of binoculars and a bird book - these have remained part of my adventures to this day.
It all started at school. I was passionate about geography. Connecting this keen interest with my desire to reach young children, in 2019 I started a project called “ Restoring the Prime Colours of the Earth“ This includes a long term goal to plant at least 500 trees around the country in schools and orphanages.
I decided to focus this project on the SOS Children’s Village, a home for orphaned children.
DB: Have the children responded as you hoped?
Yes indeed! All children are eager to understand the world around them. Only they have the power to guide conservation practices, and advocate sustainability into the future.
I hope to grow this project further, constructing greenhouse tunnels, and teaching about hydroponic farming and water protection.
