Occupying a 35-hectare site in Gaborone, the Botswana Conference
& Exhibition Centre in Fairground Park was conceived to address
the need for a site to host fairs, exhibitions, events and meetings,
as well as provide outside catering, event management, equipment and
open space rentals.
The operating company, Fairground Holdings was launched in 1986 –
on the 20th anniversary of Botswana’s independence - initially to host the
annual Botswana International Trade Fair.
The principal indoor exhibition space covers more than 5,000 sq
metres and can accommodate 240 shell schemes of nine square metres,
as well as offering a capacity of 15,000 guests for receptions or 10,000 in
theatre-seating.
Other halls cater for smaller exhibitions and events, and there are 18
conference rooms as well as open space for special events – FGH also
provides a catering service for up to 4,000 guests, with menus customised
to corporate requirements.
According to sales & marketing manager, Thabo Mogomotsi, FGH is
currently at an advanced stage of formulating a plan to renovate existing
structures and upgrade current conference facilities, as well as creating a
‘Live, Work and Play’ environment.
