My manager, John Powell, had partnered up with Don Williams, who was Andy Williams' brother. Don managed Ray Stevens, the country singer I mentioned before. He had comic hits like "The Streak" and "Ahab the Arab".
They got Ray to record my haircut song and the royalties have been a great addition to my bankroll. He recorded a couple other songs I wrote, including one I really liked called "The Lady on the Radio". It's about a guy driving, listening to the radio, and all of a sudden he hears his wife on a call-in show complaining about their marriage and how lousy he is in bed. Paul Simon never wrote a song like that! I got royalties from it too, but I think the last check was for 11 cents. The "Haircut Song" has been the gift that keeps on giving.
Back to our day.
After a lazy afternoon, Jintana, Awee and I drove over to North Hill Golf Course to sit on the terrace and have dinner. Jintana had her favorite drink, a mojito. She is truly a lightweight when it comes to drinking, as she gets drunk and sleepy on half of a drink. I had pesto pasta with prawns (it was a big prawn day for me) and Awee had a spinach and cheese dish. Jintana wasn't hungry and had a few bites of our food.
Now we're home and she's watching Deadpool on Netflix because I told her it was fun. I'm done with this, so I'll watch something too. I've come to love our quiet nights.
