oil and acrylic on canvas A3 (2020)
This was my school’s assignment for a final year project collaboration between civics and art, as well as my first time mixing oil paint with acrylics. It was a huge challenge, yet I was very intrigued to start this artwork. I started with a sketch to help me locate the face features, and slowly transferred the lines into the canvas. I looked up many tutorials online on how to start painting skin tones with oil paint, since I didn’t know where to start. It truly amazed me that the most unexpected colors such as purple and black are used to create stunning skin tones. I learned a lot from this piece, and enjoyed every step of it. The never ending layers of paint, the one smudge that was an accident, and many more. Creating this piece was very meaningful to me, and this artwork itself holds an important message “Dif- ferent Colors but Sisters”. I also posted this on social platforms, with the hope of inspiring others and bringing awareness regarding the theme of this artwork.
