Talking about the food of north, Tong
Restaurant and bar is Thai restaurant that’s
easy to spot thanks to an enticing barbeque
grill outside the entrance. Tong, also called
Tong Tem Toh, is one of the most popular
restaurants for Thai’s in the Nimman area.
From 17:00 when they open there are a lot of
customers trying to beat the queue that forms
from opening time until late. You can’t reserve
a table in advance so be prepared to wait for
up to an hour for a table, but the food of Tong
restaurant is worth the wait and taste it.
When I arrived Chiang Mai, Tong
restaurant is first restaurant that I went to eat
the food of north. There were lots of menus
about north food, the foods that I tasted such
as nam prik noom (The peppers are char
roasted over fire, then pounded up with some
extra chilies for heat, shallots and garlic, and
fish sauce.), Kaeng hang lay and jeen som
mok kai. The food that I like the most is nam
prik noom, I like spicy taste and nam prik noom
is perfect spicy food for me. Tong restaurant
upgraded from normal Thai street food or
classic restaurants with the Pepsi or Maggi
tablecloths, and instead they have dark
wooden benches and tables, mist machines to
keep diners cool, and Bruno Mars playing in
the background.
Surely, Tong restaurant is the great
quality in terms of atmosphere and the taste of
north food. For Travelers who prefer north food
should not miss. Grasp this chance when
visiting to Chiang Mai.
