Cameron Tunks
Cameron plays in our U14 Blue side and represented NSW in the PSSA Nationals. Cameron became the first player in our history to score a century at this level with a ton against Tasmania.
Pink Stumps day
Thank you to Ratna Siva, U9s Convenor and his Team who organised this year’s Pink Stumps Day. Pink Stumps Day was played on Saturday 10 March 2018 with a double header at Campbell Park.
The Team raised over $9,000 for this great cause and brings the total raised over the last 7 years to over $37,700. The following pictures capture the spirit of the day:
Extreme Heat Policy
The days of Junior Coaches / Managers / Seniors Captains insisting on playing cricket in extreme conditions will come to an end next season. The current Guideline is that if one Team wants to play then the game goes ahead but with more drink breaks.
Common sense and Duty of Care will finally prevail next season when the Grade Cricket policy is adopted and this involves:
• 37 degrees (based on the ‘Feels like’ Weatherzone app) – more and longer drinks breaks • 43 degrees – play ceases immediately and doesn’t start again until it drops below 43
• 45 degrees – if the forecast at 4.00 pm the day before scheduled play no play will occur.
Sahana’s story
CNSW gave Sahana Anand from our U13s an opportunity to be the ‘Roving Reporter’ for the day at the Australia Vs England Women’s Test at North Sydney. The Photo Gallery has all the details and there is also a Facebook entry that records the day – https://www.facebook.com/SouthernStars/ videos/856830907832592/?hc_ref=ARThScXClkaoRNbnZdOHcFbVfUryEtf_gYIcpWlLbG9Mxx_ QRcSk0w9YjL3zWKbJCxM
Country Carnivals
Three of our Age Groups again participated in the Country Carnivals played during early January 2018. We are the only Club side in NSW to be given this opportunity to play in these Carnivals:
• U14s – Tamworth JCA (8th to 12 January 2018)
• U15s – Armidale (Walter Taylor Shield) – 2nd to 5th January
• U16s – Stan Austin Shield (Taree) – 8th to 11th January.
