PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Carla Zazulak CCP, FANZP
Dear Colleagues,
As the festive season rapidly approaches, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the current year. The Executive has had a huge year with a lot of work/mahi going on and what felt at times like hardly a chance to draw breath before the next deadline was upon us. What delighted me was the willingness and vast ability of the fairly ‘new to the executive’ members to take on some big challenges and deliver excellent results – this is a very positive sign for the future. I will be moving into the Past President role toward the end of 2023 and welcoming Chris Morley to the President position. I would like to thank the members of the Executive and Board, as well as the membership and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable festive season.
The Board have also put in a mammoth effort to complete some essential tasks that will improve the experience of members and future members of our Perfusion community. I value their hard work and look forward to seeing the value they have added being shared with members.
Our application for full membership to NASRHP (National Alliance of Self-Regulating Health Professions) was submitted in September 2023 and we await the outcome. This application has been a long time in the making and Alison Horton, our representative for NASRHP and AHPA, was instrumental in setting us on the path to full membership and remains an advocate and representative for the ANZCP.
The progress toward New Zealand’s Registration for Perfusionists is exciting and a long time coming, and I anticipate that this positive outcome will be of benefit to our profession as a whole.
The 3SCTS Conference in Cairns 2022 was deemed a huge success. The College has received a lot of positive feedback and are grateful to have had the opportunity to bring our members and industry colleagues together. We have now confirmed our participation in the next Tri- Society meeting in 2025 that will be held in Sydney, NSW.
The 41st Annual ASM is also now confirmed and will be held at the impressive Te Pae Convention centre in Christchurch, New Zealand from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd November 2024 - please save the date!
Throughout my tenure as President our Admin, Andrea Hunt has been an essential resource – ensuring that business was attended to in a smooth and timely fashion. A huge appreciation is felt by Executive and Board toward Andrea for all her efforts.
The College has many priorities to check off and we will address these in future communications, however, if you have any feedback or suggestions are always welcomed, so please do email admin@ anzcp.org.
It is my hope that you can all find some balance between work and home life. I understand this can be difficult, especially given the difficulties faced by our workforce, however we as a college encourage you to prioritize your own well-being. Any act of kindness to yourself and others, no matter how small, is valuable.
Yours sincerely,
Carla Zazulak
