                CHAPTER 5: AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
To claim any of the awards listed below, athletes must hand in the information to their age manager. This should be done both during the season if you think an award is due, and towards the end of the season. A printout from our website showing the levels achieved is also acceptable.
ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Achievement awards are designed to encourage Little Athletes to compete and improve their performances in a range of events rather than specialising in just one or two. The achievement levels tables contain standards (times and distances) for each event and age group. There are separate tables for boys and girls, with four levels of standard ranging from green (easiest) to blue (most difficult). These tables are on the following two pages.
Each week athletes can review their performances via the results page of the centre website against the achievement levels table. If their performance equals or betters a particular level, then they have achieved that level. Write the date and performance on the Achievement Levels sheet (available on the centre website for downloading) using the box opposite the event and in the appropriate colour column, then colour in the box with that colour. Alternatively, athletesmayviewthecolourstheyhaveearnedonourwebsite, andprintthisouttoclaimtheiraward. Athletes must earn the green award before the yellow award, and so on.
GOLD AWARD
The gold awards recognise good all-round achievement rather than excellence in a smaller number of events. To earn this award, an athlete must record performances to the red standard only in the number of events shown in the table below. To be eligible for any Achievement Level Award, an athlete must have recorded performances to that level in a minimum number of events. This minimum number is:

U8 7 6 4 3 9 6red
U9 8 7 5 4 11 7red

        MERIT AWARDS
All athletes will be able to access results through the website.
Athletes earn one point for each event in which they participate - up to a maximum of six points per Saturday. They also earn one point for each Saturday attended. Points are also earned for wet (cancelled) days. Where an event is allocated two time periods in our program, participation will earn the athlete two points.
Each week, enter the points earned on the Merit Award Scheme sheet available on the website for downloading. Age Managers will also monitor athletes results. Full details of the scheme and how to claim your award are printed on the sheet. Athletes earning 700 points or higher are recognised at the Presentation Day, and athletes earning at least 900 points are listed on our Honour Board.
