CHAPTER 4 : SATURDAY MORNING COMPETITION
TIME
Competition is held every Saturday morning, including most school holidays, at Bannockburn Oval, Bannockburn Road, Pymble. Javelin and some of the longer distance events are held between 8.00am and 8.30am. A warm-up for all athletes is held at 8.15am so that the first events can start at 8:30am. Regular events finish approximately at 11:30am as we must be off the oval by no later than 1:00pm. Any missed events are taken into account when determining attendance awards and championships selections.
FACILITIES
Bannockburn Oval caters for all our events. The amenities block includes equipment storage, toilets and our canteen. The canteen sells drinks, ice blocks, confectionary, light snacks and runs a BBQ. All proceeds go to our Centre.
WEATHER
Saturday morning competition is only cancelled if there is, or will be, substantial rainfall at the starting time at Bannockburn Oval. Any decision to cancel competition will be made prior to 7.00am. If competition is cancelled, a message will be posted on our website between 7:15am and 8am. Decisions to cancel are delayed until the last possible minute in order to avoid unnecessary cancellations during the changeable spring/summer weather.
We follow LANSW guidelines in relation to Heat and Humidity adjusting our programme accordingly. In exceptional circumstances the Saturday programme will be cancelled or suspended.
AGE GROUPS
Children are divided into age groups for competition. The grouping depends on their age as at 31 December 2023. Children who are five years old are called U6’s. Those that are 4 may elect to participate in our Tiny Tot program. The oldest age group is the U17’s for athletes who are 15 or 16 years old at that date.
 CLUBS & UNIFORM
To compete at KLAC, children join one of the six affiliated Clubs.
Each club has the Saturday morning club uniform which comprises a T-shirt or singlet (which is included in the subscription fee) and black shorts, bike pants or sports brief. Athletes much compete in KLAC designated top which is provided as part of the registration. The top colours are:
