  COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
In March 2023, a new Community Programs team was established to leverage collaboration across the organisation and to explore new opportunities to raise funds and scale.
Key to its establishment was a greater focus on fundraising for both CCNB and other grassroots organisations that it supports, as well as having a strategic and central focus for the development of Community Programs within CCNB.
The Community Programs portfolio includes:
Community Capital Foundation - founded in 2020, its aim is to foster generosity and facilitate connection between those who want to give and increase their social impact
Belong Club - provides an opportunity for social connection through hosting a range of free face-to-face and online activities
Volunteer Program - facilitates the wonderful volunteers who support our customers and the broader community Wings of Hope - supports people and their families bereaved by suicide
The Groundswell Project, including Dying to Know Day - established to promote education around end-of-life, with Dying to Know Day being a day to focus on the topic.
THE GROUNDSWELL PROJECT
During early 2023, Groundswell delivered nine Community Connector workshops in regional towns in Far North Queensland. These workshops included 130 health professionals, service organisations and community members who participated to learn about building compassionate communities. By the end of the workshops, 93% of participants understood the role of “Connector” and 67% were keen to find and engage with other “Connectors” in their networks. A project for the Ministry of Health was successfully included, involving delivery of 18 workshops for staff and residents of two multi-site Residential Aged Care homes.
WINGS OF HOPE
Each year on International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, CCNB hosts a memorial gathering at Rocky Point Island headland at Balmoral beach for families who have loved and lost someone from suicide.
This is an intimate public gathering to bring together the bereaved in our community and to remind them that they are not alone in their loss and to inspire hope.
