  2019 - 2020
The year that was...
like no other
The unexpected arrival of COVID-19 during 2020, saw the healthcare system faced with challenges like never before.
Preparations for the potential of a significant impact on hospital facilities and supplies, as well as ensuring a safe working environment, placed enormous responsibility on executive, staff, doctors and in particular the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team. The measures put in place, from revised visitor protocols, to new policies around cleaning and updated procedures to incorporate temperature checks and health screening, ensured Adventist HealthCare facilities remained a safe place to work and visit.
Over recent months the San has been humbled by the many kind gestures and messages of support that have been received from local businesses, community groups and school children.
These range from donations to San Foundation to
help fund onsite accommodation for nurses, doctors, cleaners and other staff, as well as nearly 3,000 sets of new procedural scrubs, sandwiches, wraps, cookies, coffee, hot cross buns and Easter eggs donated by local cafes, bakeries and church groups; and more than 100 messages of thanks and support from students at local schools. AHCL is immensely grateful for the generosity and thoughtfulness shown by our community.
