“We are so grateful that we are able to start delivering PIPAC at the San.
Peritoneal Cancer is an aggressive disease with limited treatment options, we hope that patients undergoing PIPAC on this trial
will not only have meaningful improvement in survival and quality of life, but also support the critical research to advance PIPAC treatments in the future, both here in Australia and overseas.
A/Prof Craig Lynch
Colorectal and Robotic Surgeon
New medical treatment trial introduced at the San!
With the generous support and assistance from the Charles Warman Foundation, Associate Professor Craig Lynch performed the first Pressurised IntraPeritoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC) procedure in April.
This new trial is targeted for patients with gastric or colorectal cancer that has spread to the peritoneal cavity.
The treatment involves a minimally invasive laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) with only a short stay in hospital for each treatment.
Thanks to our donor’s support, the future looks bright!
If you would like to know more about how you can support this exciting new medical treatment, please contact a member of the San Foundation team on (02) 9480 9405.
