IMPORTANT PARENT INFORMATION
NEWSLETTER
A weekly President's Message is available by email. Please read it each week as it contains important, up to date information.
PARENT ATTENDANCE
At least one parent/guardian must attend the oval when their child is competing. Failure to do so may result in the child being withdrawn from events.
Exception: Parents of athletes sixteen and above who do not need to be present
GROUNDS
It is our responsibility to keep the grounds clean and tidy.
PARKING
Parking is not allowed in Reservoir Lane on Saturdays. Please do not block driveways or obstruct the road unnecessarily. Please do not double park at any time. On Bannockburn Road car parking in the bays that adjoin Bannockburn Oval should be parked with the front of the car facing the road to avoid a fine.
OUT OF BOUNDS
Climbing on the Amenities Block is forbidden. The steep embankment near Birubi Avenue and the bush areas are out of bounds. This is for safety reasons.
FOOTWEAR
• Appropriate footwear is compulsory for all athletes in all events
• No athlete may wear football boots or cleats in any event.
• Athletes in the 9s-10s age group may not wear spike shoes.
• Athletes in the 11s-12s age group may wear spike shoes in events run entirely in lanes
only. Spike shoes may also be worn for long jump, triple jump, high jump, and javelin. • Athletes in the 13s-U20 age groups may wear spike shoes in all track events (includes
laned or unlaned events) except walks. Spike shoes may also be worn for long jump,
triple jump, high jump, and javelin.
• All spike shoes must be worn with all holes filled with a complete set of spikes, with no
more than two blanks/slugs installed.
• Spike shoes cannot be worn outside the defined “Field of Play” unless all spikes are
suitably covered.
RECORDING OF PERFORMANCES
The Centre records every performance by every athlete each Saturday morning and all athletes will be able to access results through the website. Triallists, athletes not in uniform and athletes who have registered that morning may not have their performances recorded. All recorded performances are available on our website as soon as possible after competition. They are also used to select athletes for Championships. Any queries about recorded performances should be directed in the first instance to your Age Manager
RANKED RACES
Track events that are run in lanes are graded by times achieved. Within each age group, children in a given heat will be as evenly matched as possible. Gradings are reviewed throughout the season. This task is performed by our Records & Results team.
Events run on the inner circular track (200m & 400m) will have ranked heats; the remainder of the athletes will run in heats if time permits. However, if time is short, the balance of the age group will compete in a pack start format. This decision will be made at the discretion of the Championships and Age Manager Officer to complete our program in a timely manner.
LOST PROPERTY
KLAC maintains a lost property box. Unclaimed property is collected at the end of each morning and placed in this box in the canteen. Please check its contents regularly. At the end of the season, the remaining contents of the lost property box are disposed of or donated to charity.
