Quilled Spring Blooms Try your hand at quilling with these colourful
What better way to embrace the change of the seasons than with some cheerful home décor? Carla’s lovely wall art
is delicate in design, and once you’ve mastered this delightful technique, you’ll be able to come up with your own unique layouts. Quilling is an intricate art, so take your time – practise your coiling and shaping technique, and take your time. Choose complementary strips of coloured paper for a chic make, or go bright and bold with clashing tones.

Kit List
◆ Quilling strips, 5mm (or 10mm)
◆ Quilling tool ◆ PVA glue ◆ Jar lid ◆ Petroleum jelly ◆ Hot glue gun
1Pick out four complementary shades from your quilling strips that range from dark to light, plus one green. Place the lightest shade into the quilling tool and roll until it’s tightly coiled. Hold the coil between your finger and thumb and slowly loosen your grip, so that it 2expands slowly.
When loose enough, glue down the
edge and pinch two sides to form a diamond shape. Repeat until you have three diamonds in the lightest shade and 3two in each of the other three shades.
Leave one of the lightest shade
diamonds aside. Pinch the rest into
S shapes. Arrange the coils in a downwards V formation, with the diamond that you didn’t shape in the top-centre position. Glue together. Once dry, place more glue into the centre of the V, and hold both sides 4together gently until secure.
Glue a strip of the lightest shade to
the outside of the formation, and wrap until you run out of paper. Glue down the edge. Repeat with another shade. This completes a petal – repeat the whole 5process until you have five petals.
Rub petroleum jelly onto the inside
of the jar lid to form a barrier, then apply plenty of hot glue on top. While
