          SO HOW DOES YOUR MEMBER
“The Create Yousay... and Craft
club is great.
The presenters and educational demos are fantastic. I really enjoy watching it every day, and I always learn so much.” Morag
a sweet tooth so any treats we get in are gladly received!
I love that we can provide our members with such varied and top quality makes. After all – you are the heart of the magazine;
it was started with you in mind and this ethos remains as true as ever. We ask our members for feedback on the magazine and this is what we use when
we begin each issue.
The future of the magazine is
looking bright! We are constantly striving to keep things fresh so that you get a dynamic product that’s brimming with ideas. I’d just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our contributors, suppliers, everyone who works on the publication, and, of course, our fantastic members – without you there would be no magazine!
MAGAZINE COME TOGETHER?
Alice spills the beans...
From drafting the features list, liaising with buyers and commissioning projects to interviewing guests, speaking to members and proofing the final edit, there’s a lot of work that goes into each issue.
Craft Club has come a long way since the early days and I’m so proud of what it has become. Our main aims are to inspire readers, educate them on the latest techniques, introduce the newest products, and encourage members to share their stories and makes.
One of my favourite things is the front cover shoots.
We started to feature our presenters, experts and members on our covers a few years ago – it really adds to our community message. All our shoots are memorable but,
of course, a few stand out. See below for some of my favourites.
Delving inside, some of my highlights include Winter
2016’s spread featuring family pooches, Hugo and Angus. They were just puppies at the time and when the dog coat kits came in, I knew we had to feature them! There have been a few times when I’ve involved family members, my mum has featured as well as my adorable

nephews! In summer 2015,
I took a trip to the primary school where my sister worked as a teacher to give pupils
a tuition on how to make farmyard finger puppets. I had so much fun and it was great to see how craft really helps bring out youngsters’ creative flair and allows them to concentrate on making something truly unique to them.
I also love the behind the scenes features. In Summer 2015 we spoke to Laura Kilbride and Sam Smith about life backstage and it’s great to
get an insight into the ins and outs of TV production, while
in Summer 2019’s issue, we looked at how we get a product to air from start to finish.
I can’t talk about features without speaking of the outstanding projects. When
I commission them, I give the contributors a generic brief and I’m always astounded when
I receive the projects back
– some of my faves include Spring 2017’s watercolour cards, Spring 2018’s everlasting blooms, and Winter 2019’s Ellie the elephant. Nancy’s free downloads are also a huge success. We launch Christmas in Summer, so I love receiving projects in mid-June, filled with festive joy, and I always love to receive baking projects – I have
Spring 2018 This was such a lovely
day! We photographed our cover stars and then had to get 13 of our fab contributors into one shot for the feature. I was a bit nervous beforehand, but everyone was brilliant!
Summer 2018 Our inaugural outdoor shoot
was challenging thanks to the cold breeze... but doesn’t Stephanie look lovely? She’s truly wonderful to work with.
Winter 2019 Another first was getting Toni’s
super-cute pooch Daffy as our joint cover star. She certainly knew how to work the camera - this was pretty much a one-take shot! Toni was great fun to work with, too... in fact all our cover stars have been.
