HEALTH CARE COURSES
Animal Science (MS & HS) - In His Word, God gave us dominion over the animals, so we
should seek to understand the wonderful creatures God gave us as gifts. Through skeletal
models, pelts, videos, and some live species will work to better understand our stewardship of
God’s creatures. We will study the basic animal classifications, habitats, and innate survival skills
of many of the creatures God put right in our own backyards. Instructor: Camilla Johnson, 30
              years’ experience

Medical Careers (MS & HS) – This course is designed to help students exploring medicine as a
vocation learn about all the different options they will have as medical professionals. The
course opens with a unit on medical history and the rest of the year brings in live presentations
from individuals actively working in the medical field in various professions including veterinary
science. There is little homework expected from this course. Most learning will be done in

Nutrition (MS & HS) - In this course students will learn how to examine nutrients and their use
by the body for growth and development. They will identify and describe the process of digestion,
absorption and elimination in the body. Students will be taught the function of various nutrients
and their composition. An understanding of a proper diet necessary for health will be gained.
Students will create a balanced diet using meal planning tools and calculate an individual's daily
caloric and nutrient requirements. Class will be conducted with presentations, labs (starch
content, body composition, etc.) and demonstrations (vitamins, electrolytes, water balance in the
body, etc). Students leave the course with a working knowledge of what they were taught, and
