   SPECIAL VISIT
 RESTORING WINDSOR:
THE CASTLE AFTER THE FIRE
When fire broke out at Windsor Castle in 1992 it made headline news around the world. This very popular Special Visit gives the opportunity to learn more about this devastating event and the skilled work carried out to restore the Castle.
You will hear the dramatic story of the battle to stop the flames and save works of art from the Royal Collection.
The subsequent restoration project was one of the greatest carried out in this country. Some interiors were rebuilt to new designs, while others were painstakingly returned to their original, historic appearance.
The visit begins with refreshments and an expert talk. Your group can then enjoy a self-guided tour of the State Apartments with a multimedia guide, including areas transformed by the award-winning restoration work.
