ROYAL WEDDINGS AT WINDSOR
The marriage of Prince Harry to
Ms Meghan Markle in 2018 was part of a 900-year tradition of royal weddings at Windsor Castle, the first being for his namesake Henry I in 1121.
By Queen Victoria’s reign Windsor already had strong romantic associations, and in our own time, some of The Queen’s children and grandchildren have also chosen Windsor as the setting for their wedding day.
This special talk will show how royal weddings at Windsor Castle have evolved into the moving ceremonies followed by magnificent celebrations that have been shared throughout the country and across the world.

WINDSOR CASTLE AND THE SAVILL GARDEN
The splendour and history of Windsor Castle is perfectly matched by the beauty and serenity of The Savill Garden, just four miles away.
In 1932 Queen Mary gave Sir Eric Savill permission to develop a 35-acre garden in Windsor Great Park. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother showed great interest in the garden, and the Temperate House is dedicated to her.
Visitors can delight in the vibrant colour of The Savill Garden’s beautiful herbaceous borders and the eye- catching Savill Building. Excellent visitor facilities include a gift shop, plant shop and restaurant.
