CHRISTOPHER BRISCOE
CONNECTION
hotographer and adventurer Christopher Briscoe has published a
Pnumber of his photo collections into gorgeous coffee table books.
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Chris to see what sparks his
creativity. In his own words:
Connection. That’s why we hang out, seek friendships and share.
Connection gives meaning to our lives. My connection with others
often occurs when I take portraits. I learn something new from every
person I photograph and/or interview for one of my books. Every
person's story is unique, with details I’ve never heard before—as if I’ve
found an artifact that’s been left behind. It never gets old.
With my camera in hand, there is a unique intimacy, a connection
that moves me. When the lens cap is off and I successfully capture the
moment, emotion is the payoff for the viewer. Emotion is my paycheck
as well. An effective portrait is a mover of emotions. Emotion is the
force of life and I'm thrilled to be able to contribute to that.
People often ask me if I shoot landscapes. I tell them, “To me, the human
face is the greatest landscape there is.” People don't carry pictures
of landscapes in their wallets. Faces are my landscapes to celebrate.
