        and hone skills, though tour guides must be expertly trained and certi-
        fied and also know about local plant life and local history. James Brown,
        a zipline guide for the past three years and currently in the SOU OAL
        program, just planned and led a three-day outdoor survival class for his
        Capstone project (a graduate school equivalent of a high school senior
        project), that included how to sleep and feed folks, entertain them, and
        how to kill and dress a chicken—all the while being aware of their emo-
        tional and psychological needs.

        (RCC also offers programs that allow graduates to step into the health
        care arena or careers in the trades.)

        Education has definitely grown more diverse and creative, with inten-
        tional focus on meeting the needs of both individual learners and the
        community. These programs at the high school, community college, and
        four-year college level are proof that it works.
