SPORTS
There are also the Xfinity cars, along with truck races that
have more than their share of fans. Even when NASCAR
leaves town, we have a couple of hometown boys who talk
Vegas up as often as possible in Kyle and Kurt Busch. We’ve
got upcoming racers who are making a name for themselves
in NASCAR’s version of the minor leagues, and chances are
you’ll see them with the big boys sooner rather than later.
If the length of a NASCAR race is a little too long for your
taste, don’t forget the NHRA drag racing teams roaring
into action at The Strip, also located at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway. You want speed? Try 300 miles an hour over a
quarter of a mile. Buckle up and hang on.
Now, how about a sport that’s a little more soothing to the
sense—professional golf. The PGA TOUR’s annual stop at
TPC Summerlin, the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open,
has been a staple on the tour since 1983. In recent years, it
has been moved to one of the first stops in the fall portion
of the wraparound PGA TOUR season, adding more of an
impact to the event on the schedule and bringing in more
high-profile players.
Once again, players with Vegas ties are in the spotlight,
