Energy Trust of Oregon and Eco Solar, to
create a solar pavilion that helps offset energy
        costs.

As the park’s offerings have increased, its vol-
unteer board has added a paid executive direc-
tor, park manager, events coordinator, and
fieldhouse manager. “We’re in this new era
where we have to generate revenue so we can
continue to grow,” Reeder explains. Ongoing
        improvements, he emphasizes, aren’t wanted
only for visitors but, even more, to benefit
locals. As examples, he says expanding pick-
leball offerings are needed because of the
sport’s growing popularity, while adding sand
volleyball courts is expected to lure younger
        recreationalists.

What’s the lure of Klamath Falls? “Most of
the people love the idea that it’s a big park
in a small town,” Reeder says. “The park
        provides opportunities to coalesce different
sports and activities in one place, a place to
provide opportunities to play and recreate.
        That’s our appeal.”
