ROGUE GALLERY & ART CENTER
Rogue Gallery & Art Center is a non-profit organization that’s
been in downtown Medford for over 60 years, and in its cur-
rent location since the 1970s. Three exhibition spaces feature
ever-changing exhibits in all mediums and styles: the Members’
Gallery, where about 30 of the 120 member artists display their work
at any given time; the Community Gallery, usually featuring one artist;
and, the Main Gallery, featuring regional, national, and international
art in various mediums – painting, photography, fiber art, sculptures,
mosaics.
Rogue Gallery offers classes and workshops for children and adults,
beginners through advanced – drawing, painting, printmaking, figure
drawing, plein air, and more. Summer camps introduce art to the next
generation, as children explore ceramics, sculpture, painting, and anime
drawing. Friends and Family Art Saturday, a free second-Saturday event,
offers kids’ art projects and games focused on the current exhibit.
Third Friday Receptions are no-charge events open for all to see a new
exhibit and meet the artist, and enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres.
There is paid staff, but without volunteers, “We couldn’t do it,” says Kim
Hearon, executive director. These dedicated folks help install exhibits,
tend the front desk, and assist in the artisan gift shop. The latter space
holds a delightful array of art and art-related items, from small pieces
to cards and bookmarks, fiber art, jewelry, and more, with a range of
prices, affordable to all.
See the website for hours and upcoming events/exhibits.
