ou’ll find HRL Brewery and Pubbery tucked away
on Central Avenue in Medford, and it won’t dis-
appoint. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by fresh
Yaesthetics, an outdoor seating area, and a clear sign
“Warning: Unattended children will be given a Red Bull, a
steak knife, and taught swear words. *Seriously parents, please
be respectful to our patrons and staff by watching your chil-
dren closely or you will be asked to leave. “
The owners aim to create a fun and relaxing experience. Inside
you’ll find an inviting atmosphere. The building has solid
bones, served as a cabinet shop for years, and is completely
renovated into a fresh gathering place that attracts quite a few
regulars. Despite opening during the pandemic, business is
steady, and the popularity continues to grow as more people
discover this new venue.
The beverage selection includes twenty-four taps featuring
rotating house brews, local beer, cider, and kombucha. The
HRL beer selections are session style with low ABV so you can
enjoy and not overdo it. Since the taps rotate, you’ll want to
visit often to see what they are serving. It will definitely take
more than one visit to sample everything. Plus, you’ll find a
rotating tap of local wines. Currently, Pebblestone is featured,
but you’ll want to check back often to see the latest selections.
Beer flights of four are available to sample and explore. I
enjoyed a flight of HRL brews including the Golden Ale,
Show Me Your Stinger, Training Wheels IPA and, my personal
favorite, the Pink in The Middle Grapefruit IPA.
The menu boasts healthy pub fare with selections ranging
from sharables such as a Snacky Snack Sheet featuring assorted
Taylor Sausages and Rogue Creamery Cheese, a hummus
