ELIZABETH BLODGETT
The Art of Observation
FOCUS ON
outhern Oregon based photographer
Elizabeth Blodgett is learning the art of
Sobservation through her years of study-
ing and pursuing photography. She has always
been inspired by the quote of Elliot Erwitt,
“Photography is the art of observation...It has
little to do with the things you see and every-
thing to do with the way you see them.”
“Being able to observe life with my camera in
hand,” says Blodgett, “is something I am grate-
ful for. I have found that observing life through
the lens of my camera has allowed me to
notice and appreciate the little details in life. I
am blessed to live in Southern Oregon, where
everywhere you turn there is a scenery just
waiting to be photographed. To be able to put
my observation on display for others to enjoy
and see is something I am very thankful for.
Photographs remember things long after we
have forgotten them. That’s what makes them
so important. I enjoy capturing life’s mile-
stones. Whether that be a soon-to-be mom, a
newborn baby, or her first steps, each stage
deserves to be captured and documented.”
Blodgett’s photographs have been displayed in
art galleries around the valley as well as local
businesses. She specializes in events, lifestyle,
portrait and fine arts photography. She enjoys
capturing all stages of life. Her style of pho-
tography is influenced by photographer Ansel
Adams. She enjoys working with cleans lines
and black and white images. She currently
works as a freelance photographer and graphic
designer in the Rogue Valley.
