Once, Hattie’s picture flew off the hook
where it hung. On another occasion, staff that
had assembled in the kitchen witnessed cake
stands fly off wood shelving in the next room.
They crashed to the floor and broke.
These incidents don’t diminish Courtney’s
enthusiasm for Del Rio, however. For her,
it’s more than a job. Referring to owners and
employees, she says, “We are a very close
knit family. We work hard, then play hard
together.” Del Rio just completed its second season of Flower it
Forward, a vast field of zinnias, free for the cutting to bless and
cheer others.
Jolee says that being stewards of the land is their primary focus.
They have a lot of land to tend with 300 acres at the Gold Hill
location, and an added 165 acres after the recent purchase of the
Birdseye Ranch on the Rogue River.
Head out to Del Rio, and maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of Hattie.
If not, you will definitely enjoy your glass of wine and the vista
of lush vines stretching across hilly acres.
