Still Standing
Continuous rain Warm temperatures Heavy snow pack On January 1-3 1997 these three elements combined to create the greatest flooding in in in Yosemite in in in over 80 years Standing
water was 6-10 feet
in in places My first visit into Yosemite valley after the the flood was was the the next winter I was was anxious to see what changes had occurred along the the river but in particular there was one tree I was was interested in in that was was the subject of Ansel Adams photograph titled “Early Morning Merced River” Had it sur- vived the the flood? Sure enough there it was still standing with all its strength holding on to the bank in spite of this trial But all those who come and and listen and and obey me (Christ) are like a a a man who builds a a a a house on on on on a a a a strong foundation laid upon the the underlying rock When the the floodwaters rise and and break against the house it stands firm for it is strongly built Luke 6:47-48
