KEY AUSTRALIAN BUILDING BLOCKS FOR SHAPING AN DISTRIBUTED EW
CAPABILITY FOR THE INTEGRATED FORCE
Australia is leveraging three key air platforms in shaping its way ahead with regard to the air delivered
component for electronic warfare, namely, the Growler, the F-35 and the Wedgetail. In addition, the work in
progress of better integrating the navy with the air force as well as the army opens up other key
opportunities for shaping new capabilities for the integrated force.
Clearly, one core example of this is working integration between the air components such as Wedgetail with
the radars on the new air warfare destroyer.
Some of these elements are discussed in this section and are based on interviews done during this visit to
Australia.
