DISTRICT ACTION GROUP ON AUTISM (DAGA)

Rotary District 3300 Action Group on Autism (DAGA) established in RY2015 with its primary objective as advocates of inclusion. DAGA in collaborating with over 30 Rotary
Clubs in D3300 and D3310 have since been organising various programmes to promote this initiative.
A series of Public Forums followed by the 1st Rotary National Conference on Autism & Inclusion culminated to a report. The report presented to the Ministry of Women &
Community Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) is to pave a way forward in streamlining efforts in
advocating inclusion in support of children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). DAGA continues to engage with the government as a catalyst in
     advocating inclusion.

The TRF Global Grant supported the first program, which benefited over 3,000 Teachers, Primary Caregivers, and Parents. TRF recently approved another Global Grant
led by RC Cheras and their sister club RC Yuan Lin Central D3462 Taiwan as international host club, RC Dhaka Royal D3281 Dhaka, RC Endeavour Hills D9685
Melbourne & RC e-Club D3310 Singapore as international partners and working with other D3300 clubs to outreach parents supporting them in managing their children with
     ASD.

According to the Centres for Disease Control & Prevention USA (CDC), there is a rising percentage of the world population diagnosed with ASD. As of 2018, an estimated 1
percent of the world population had an ASD, with the United States estimating 1 in 59 children. Recent statistics show that there are approximately 300,000 people living
with ASD in Malaysia and about 9,000 children are born with ASD every year.

DAGA provides resources and supports clubs interested in carrying out autism related projects, encouring sustainable projects through Global Grants to further our efforts in
advocating inclusion. DAGA committee members are Rotarians from various Rotary Clubs who share a common interest and passion in AUTISM awareness.
