IN THE KITCHEN

    February saw a new menu, shorter for winter, go into place.   As many of you know,

    I am a local Chef having worked at Sonoma Mission Inn for 15 years, and MacArthur

    Place for 18. It is a challenging job and we always do our best to give people

    something we can be proud of.



    More often than not though, our contact with our guests is limited to perhaps a

    comment brought back by a server, who is busy with his or her own duties. So I can't

    tell you what a pleasure it is, to be able to visit with you face to face. The membership

    here, have been extraordinarily kind and generous with their praise. And while most

    of that has been directed at me, I try to make sure that those comments and

    compliments go to my team in the back of the house. It is a group effort and I am

    lucky to have such talented cooks working with me.



    Most of the month will be sent retooling menus, upgrading equipment and getting

    ready for the busy season to start. It has been a wet winter, which is a curse for you

    golfers, but a blessing for the rest of us. Hopefully the water tables have been restored

    and we can look forward to a beautiful summer full of wine and great food.
