PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Message by the President of the Association
of Cyprus Travel Agents Mr Vasilis Stamataris
This year’s edition of our Directory is published under peculiar circumstances with regard
not only to the tourism industry but society as a whole. The impacts of the pandemic
have been shattering on all economic sectors, especially tourism, hence our members
have been affected intensely. Both in-coming and out-going tourism have decreased
dramatically as a result of COVID-19.
As the Agency responsible for Cyprus tourism development, ACTA has been in the
forefront of the latest developments and has been taking a number of initiatives in Cyprus
and abroad so as to tackle the negative outcomes of the pandemic in the best possible
way.
ACTA has been in constant contact with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, as well as with
other governmental and private institutions and organisations, joining forces to save the
tourism industry on the island.
There is little we can expect and hope for in 2020. Yet it is up to us to prepare adequately
for 2021. Drawing on our knowledge and experience, we can form an action plan to yield
better outcomes in the new year.
Cyprus should be fully prepared in the field of tourism in 2021. ACTA and its members will
put all their efforts in this direction.
We consider that our joined efforts will lead to a better year for the tourism industry. And
this is exactly the message we want to send through our Directory:
We Stay Strong – We Improve Even More – We Look Ahead!
We are truly thankful to all those who have supported both ACTA and our Directory. We
shall remain firm at the side of travellers, tourism and the economy of our country.
Vasilis Stamataris
ACTA President
