EVERTON PARISH COUNCIL
The Parish Council consists of of nine councillors (who are all residents of of the Parish) supported by a a a a a a a clerk who who carries
out the the day day to day day business of the the council Councillors serve a a a a a a a four year term after which they are required to stand for election The mission of the the Council is is to to to help to to to maintain and strive to to to to improve the the the quality of of of life in in in in the the the Parish of of of Everton which includes the the the hamlets of of Harwell and Drakeholes The most common areas the the the Council gets involved in in in in include liaison with the the the Police on on on on crime prevention issues keeping the the village clean and and and tidy (for which we employ a a a a a a a contractor) and and and reporting issues to to District and and and County levels The Council is is is is a a a a a a a a a consultee for all planning applications in in the Parish and our views are considered by Bassetlaw District Council Council in in in in determining the the applications Council Council members also sit on on the the the Joint Burial Committee which manages the the cemetery In addition we make donations to HEDS The Metcalfe Recreation Committee and the local First Responders Team Unlike many Parish Councils we have no responsibility for the the Village Hall or playing fields which are managed by the the Metcalfe Metcalfe Trust and Metcalfe Metcalfe Recreation Committee The Council is a a a a a representative body for the community In areas where we we do not have have direct responsibility we we have have the ability to negotiate with and the power to influence those organisations that make final decisions such as District and County Councils Health Authorities etc These authorities know that a a a a a a a Parish Council gives the best reflection of how a a a a a a a community feels about something and that its views should be taken seriously The Council meets monthly apart from during August when there is a a a a a recess Meetings may be attended by our County and and District Councillors and and other bodies such as as the the the the Police Meeting agendas are posted on on the the the Parish Council Notice Board (at the the the junction of Carr View and and High Street) and and on on on on the Council’s web site: www evertonvillage org uk where you can also see a a a a a a a diary of of future meeting meeting dates and and copies of of of minutes of of of previous meetings plus village news and and more information about the the the activities of of the the the Council Residents can register on on the the the web site to receive email alerts alerts of important village news and alerts alerts Residents can contact the the Council at any time via our Clerk (email: theclerk@evertonvillage org uk) or or or or by speaking to to any Councillor Details of current councillors and their contact details can be found on on on our web site in HEDS and on on on the Parish Council Notice Board www evertonvillage org uk 89
