CULTIVATING MORAL CHARACTER | Chapter 6
“I believe it is a religious duty to get all the money you can, fairly and
honestly; to keep all you can, and to give away all you can.”
Rockefeller is a wonderful example to us of someone who ethically amassed his riches. Furthermore, his words reveal that he wasn’t captivated by money since he didn’t obtain money solely for his own pleasure, but to give to others in need.
Maturity entails patience, integrity, honesty, transparency in relationships, commitment, love, compassion for others, and a good dose of self-discipline. If we develop these qualities in our character, there is no reason in the world why we cannot achieve a generous heart.
Consider these practical steps: take the time to examine whether you are fearful of lack. Discover where and when the fear began. Then consciously and actively work towards changing your beliefs. Make decisions in line with your new perspective of honesty and integrity, no matter what the cost.
