MAKING IT TO THE END OF THE MONTH
Let’s get practical about it. To become savers, we must address our spending habits. Some habits need breaking, and some need starting:
• Stop: purchasing convenience items.
• Stop: making impulse purchases that you do not need.
• Start: tracking and reviewing where your money is spent.
• Start: spending with a plan (refer again to chapter seven).
Adopting these simple habits will not only enable us to become savers, but they will also open the door for our emotional, spiritual, relational and financial wealth. This is most definitely worth the change in our spending habits.
To make it to the end of the month with our finances intact, we must differentiate between needs and wants, answer the question, ‘How much is enough?’ and change our spending habits. By first satisfying our needs, then fulfilling our wants if we have enough financial resources to do so, we are well on our way to becoming savers.
