                Developing Word Power

               for English Communication in Pharmacy Practice



































               Objectives


                   ●  To recognize the essential components in English word and the usage in pharmacy
                       practice
                   ●   To identify the three basic word elements, combining vowels, suffixes, and prefixes used
                       to build medical terms
                   ●  To learn strategies to develop word power

                       The most basic strategy to learn a new word is to know the origin of the word and its
               family. The English words come from several origins, for instance Greek, Latin, German, French,
               and Italian like the following examples:

                   ●  Greek

                       Ex. Apparatus, area, crisis, maximum

                   ●  Latin

                       Ex. Law, leg, egg, anger, knife
