Parkside Football Club 1897/2017
Presidents Report 1999 Season
I would like to thank everybody who assisted the club during a successful 1999 season, this season
we achieved, a reserves premiership, runners up a grade, fielded junior footballers, increased
sponsorship, canteen receipts, bar takings and the club traded profitably.
The season started very badly and we were really behind the eight ball, we were in debt approx.
$17.000.00 we had a lot of problems to deal with player unrest, factional disputes, no coach as a
result we lost many valuable committee members.
The club closed ranks, restructured and we rolled up our sleeves, we received fantastic assistance
from our new senior coach Phil O'Keefe and assistant coach and senior captain Michael O'Keefe.
With a lot of hard work the committee started to turn the finances around, the endless hours of the
trailer raffle, raffles, auction, sausage sizzles, the devastating injury to Ross Napoli served to bring
out the very best in the true Parksiders and the effort of the trainers Brian, Richard, Michael and
support staff really proved why trainers must be skilled.
Our sponsorship that Such organized with Cadbury, Schweppes, Brian and Fred Moore, Brian
Patterson organizing Burson's and Eddie the Butcher, Clark Muir and Jan Brown from Mortgage
Choice really set the basis for long term viability and I cannot emphasize strongly enough the need
for every person to promote them at every opportunity.
We are naturally very disappointed at losing the senior grand final but taking everything into account
I believe that we have had a very successful season and I would like to thank all of the committee,
the ladies in the canteen, Grant, Brian Wilson, Brian Watt, Darren Watson, Vicki and Mark Gale.
Thanks to all players, trainers, supporters, Ray Barber for work with juniors and John Famechon day
Micheal Tunzi for Coaching the juniors and all of the mothers who cleaned and operated the
canteen, Sandra Forwell canteen, cleaner, supporter mother, and thanks to Sue Bessell for all her
help and a special thanks to Gary Turner premiership coach a reserves 1999.
Yours faithfully,
Don Browne-Kerr Jnr
