Chapter 6. The messages received from a
lifetime of your giving.

Every significant gift a parent or grandparent
gives to their child during your lifetime (prior
to your passing away) is normally coupled
with some encouraging message, or
perpetuation, of a core value important to the
parent or grandparent. Your lifetime gifts
include your life lessons. Even gifts that are
nominal, holiday gifts or birthday gifts,
normally have a message. When you give
someone a book, that is telling them that you
think they would enjoy the book, find it
beneficial and care enough to have previewed,
read or considered them in making the gift.
When you reward someone for finishing
college with a trip or a car, that is saying
something about how you value education,
accomplishments and even independence.

Those lifetime gifts have been intended to
perpetuate important values to the next
