Seven Middle School orchestra students were selected to participate in the All-County Elementary and Middle School Honors Orchestras. Isabella Biscombe ‘24, Owen Norton ‘24, Benjamin Gettler ‘27, Connor Karr ‘28, and Isabella Lopez ‘27 were all selected to play violin, while Lucas Bueres ‘27, Nicolas Caraballo ‘27 were selected for the cello.
Middle School beginning chorus members Lauren Acosta ‘28,
Orlando Bowers ‘28, and Kimberly Lampidis ‘28 participated in Florida Elementary Music Educators Association (FEMEA) Honor Choir, while advanced chorus member Kate Brewer ‘24 attended the American Choral Directors Association (FLACDA) Conference.
Intermediate and advanced Middle School chorus members attended Solo and Ensemble, receiving 15 Superiors including 1 large group Superior.
Manuel Rueda ‘28, Anabella Rodriguez ‘28, and Gabriela Celic ‘26 were invited to participate in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Southern Regional; they were selected for an honor choir with under 200 students out of 1200 auditions.
Theatre
The Middle School’s Drama Troupe 88015 participated in the Junior Thespians State Festival, earning a school-best seven Superior
(30 medals) and three Excellent (4 medals) ratings.
Members of the Upper School Theatre Department performed in Scotland at The Fringe Festival - the largest arts festival in the world. Students performed “The 39 Steps” four times at the Central Hall venue and had the opportunity to put on a Fringe street performance. They sold out every performance, a rarity for any Fringe show, especially for high schoolers.
Upper School students earned 14 Superior scenes and 14 perfect scores at the International Thespian Society District 8 Festival. A group of nine students also earned Top Honors (high score in Miami-Dade County) in the Large Group Musical category.
Ned Bannon ‘22 was selected for the Miami-Dade Improv Team.
Raul Mederos ‘20 was named Best Actor in a Comedy in Miami-Dade County.
Gabrielle Hagenlocker ‘20 was selected as the ESU National Shakespeare Competition Regional Winner.
