 Several Gulliver students were selected to have their art displayed at the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami as part of the 2020 Beaux Arts Festival’s Student Artist Showcase. Ava Frati ‘20 took first place, Olivia Bueno ‘25 took second place, and Joey Elsbernd ‘20 and
Fiorella Polit ‘20 each received Honorable Mention recognition. Three Middle School students were finalists in the competition: Melissa Demir ‘24, Idalia Basterra ‘24, Maya Shah ‘24.
Middle and Upper School students earned recognition for original
works of art and written pieces entered in the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. Four Gulliver students earned the highest distinction at the regional level and were recognized as regional Gold Key Award winners: Brett Gelnovatch ‘20, Jessica Gipe ‘20, Sofia Mueller ‘21, and Nolan Wu ‘24.
Brett Gelnovatch ‘20 received a National Medal Award. Her portfolio was entered into the national competition where she received a Silver Medal with Distinction, earning her an invitation to the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall.
Karela Palazio ‘21 placed first in the Glad International Online Art Competition. Her work visually showcased the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the message “We Are All In This Together” and the effects the pandemic has had on people all over the world.
Fifteen architecture students earned 23 honors across five categories in the Florida State Fair Competition, including a Best of Show Award received by Raphaella Egas ‘21.
