My name is Jamie Smith and I am presently in the twelfth grade at Gulliver Preparatory School.
I would greatly appreciate your consideration of me for your baseball team. During the last few weeks I have met with my high school coach in order to research appropriate colleges for me both athletically and academically. My coach agrees that I am an appropriate student athlete for your university. Although I have been a two-sport athlete in high school, playing quarterback for the varsity football team for my junior and senior years, I am predominately a baseball player, both pitcher and center-fielder, on our winning team. Additionally, I play club ball and participated in the Maccabiah Games, which you coached. I would appreciate receiving information from you about your team.
I have played varsity baseball at Gulliver Prep throughout all four of my high school years. I was voted All-Conference in my sophomore and junior years. My fastball has been clocked at 83;
my best pitches are fastball and curveball; my ERA was under 1 but I got ripped in the district championship game and it is now 2. My win-loss record in my sophomore year was 6-2 and was 7-2 in my junior year. I also play third base infield. I was voted All Miami-Date County First Team by the Miami Herald in my junior year. I bat 600. My coach feels that I may be qualified to play for a team of your caliber and will be happy to provide a video of games and highlights of games that show my ability. Academically I have a C+ average, but it should be noted that Gulliver Prep is a rigorous college preparatory school. My junior year grades showed much improvement and I am doing well this year.
