and a number of other extra-curricular commitments to select, edit, and proof the essays presented here. They performed these editing tasks with a sense of scholarship and purpose, characteristic of the type of student that the social science department loves to teach. We thank them greatly for their service. Kathleen Lewis worked efficiently and timely on the cover. And the cover design, showcasing Mr. Santelices’ program, was designed by Antonio Jimenez-Cala. Finally, Mrs. Denelsa Febo, the Gulliver Preparatory librarian, graciously assisted our team on the technical side, making this year’s issue available to all students, faculty, staff, and their families via the world wide web.
