 Sunbeams
As if they were descending from the heavens, They come to shed light.
They embody Apollo
In his sun chariot Gracefully riding the winds.
Like King Midas’s hands,
They make everything they touch
glisten in golden splendor.
Elixirs of life seeping through clouds, Leaves, and branches
Portraying a divine power.
They dash to earth
Like swift-footed Achilles From up above
Bring down a sense of tranquility And blow it out to the world
as if it were a dandelion.

 Betrayal
His eyes, venomous eyes.
Glowing red in the dark of the night. Empty, like an abandoned house.
Betrayal, they whisper to themselves. Betrayal has caused his pain.
The girl said she would never leave his side, But she left him on the streets.
His heart was a crumpled ball of paper, Tossed aside into the wind.
The dust became his friend,
A blanket of broken promises.
The boy sits, turning to ashes,
Carried away by the wind.
He cries alone at night, his siblings long gone.
The pain is taking over, controlling him, possessing him, He is poisoned water, too dangerous to get near.
Days and weeks pass by, scraps are not enough,
His once beautiful hair is dirty and disheveled.
Covered in soot and dust.
A young boy walks around,
Wealthy as can be,
Yet the song of sorrow follows him,
Never letting him go.
The sadness entangles him, traps him in its vines,
Exhausting him of energy, weighing down on him. He sees a creature on the streets,
As he dares to step closer.
The boy extends his hand,
Seeing the pain in those venomous eyes. The creature takes it, cautious.
No longer will he live in fear.
He will never be betrayed again.
