Philippines: Compostela Valley Provincial Profile

The province of Compostela Valley lies in the mid-eastern portion of Mindanao Island, approximately within 125 40’ east longitude and 7 4’ to 8 00’ north

latitude. It is bounded by Agusan Del Sur on the North, Davao Oriental on the East and South, Davao Gulf on the Southwest, and Davao Del Norte on the West
and Northwestern portion. The province has a total land area of 4,666.93 square kilometers. Compostela Valley, the 78th province in the country, was carved out
of Davao del Norte Province by virtue of Republic Act No. 8470, signed by President Fidel V. Ramos on
January 30, 1998. On March 7 of the same year, the law was ratified through a plebiscite conducted in the 0 11 237
