1 Corinthians 14:6 836 1 Corinthians 15:4

hee expound it, that the Church may receiue tongues, there come in they that are vnlearned,
edification. 6 And nowe, brethren, if I come or they which beleeue not, will they not say, that
vnto you speaking diuers tongues, what shall I ye are out of your wittes? 24 But if all prophecie,
profite you, except I speake to you, either by and there come in one that beleeueth not, or
reuelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecying, one vnlearned, hee is rebuked of all men, and is
or by doctrine? 7 Moreouer things without life iudged of all, 25 And so are the secrets of his heart
which giue a sounde, whether it be a pipe or made manifest, and so he will fall downe on his

soundes, how shall it be knowen what is piped is in you in deede. 26 What is to be done then,
or harped? 8 And also if the trumpet giue an brethren? when ye come together, according as
vncertaine sound, who shall prepare himselfe to euery one of you hath a Psalme, or hath doctrine,

yee vtter wordes that haue signification, howe terpretation, let all things be done vnto edifying.
shall it be vnderstand what is spoken? for ye 27 If any man speake a strange tongue, let it be by

world, and none of them is dumme. 11 Except interpreter, let him keepe silence in the Church,
I know then the power of ye voyce, I shall be which speaketh languages, and let him speake to
vnto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that himselfe, and to God. 29 Let the Prophets speake
speaketh, shalbe a barbarian vnto me. 12 Euen so, two, or three, and let the other iudge. 30 And if
forasmuch as ye couet spirituall giftes, seeke that any thing be reueiled to another that sitteth by,
ye may excell vnto the edifying of the Church. let the first holde his peace. 31 For ye may all
13 Wherefore, let him that speaketh a strange prophecie one by one, that all may learne, and
tongue, pray, that he may interprete. 14 For if I all may haue comfort. 32 And the spirits of the
pray in a strange togue, my spirit prayeth: but Prophets are subiect to the Prophets. 33 For God
mine vnderstading is without fruite. 15 What is is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as
it then? I will pray with the spirit, but I wil pray we see in all ye Churches of the Saints. 34 Let
with the vnderstanding also: I wil sing with the your women keepe silence in the Churches: for
spirite, but I will sing with the vnderstanding it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but they
also. 16 Else, when thou blessest with the spirit, ought to be subiect, as also the Lawe sayth. 35 And
howe shall hee that occupieth the roome of the if they will learne any thing, let them aske their
vnlearned, say Amen, at thy giuing of thankes, husbands at home: for it is a shame for women
                                                                                        36
seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest? 17 For to speake in the Church. Came the worde of
God out from you? either came it vnto you onely?
thou verely giuest thankes well, but the other 37 If any man thinke him selfe to be a Prophet, or
is not edified. 18 I thanke my God, I speake spirituall, let him acknowledge, that the things,
languages more then ye all. 19 Yet had I rather that I write vnto you, are the commandements
in the Church to speake fiue wordes with mine of the Lord. 38 And if any man be ignorant, let
vnderstanding, that I might also instruct others, him be ignorant. 39 Wherefore, brethren, couet
then ten thousande wordes in a strange tongue. to prophecie, and forbid not to speake languages.
20 Brethren, be not children in vnderstanding, 40 Let all things be done honestly, and by order.
but as concerning maliciousnes be children, but
in vnderstanding be of a ripe age. 21 In the 15
Lawe it is written, By men of other tongues, 1 Moreouer brethren, I declare vnto you the

people: yet so shall they not heare me, sayth also receiued, and wherein ye continue, 2 And
the Lord. 22 Wherefore strange tongues are for whereby ye are saued, if ye keepe in memorie,
a signe, not to them that beleeue, but to them after what maner I preached it vnto you, except
that beleeue not: but prophecying serueth not ye haue beleeued in vaine. 3 For first of all, I
for them that beleeue not, but for them which deliuered vnto you that which I receiued, how
beleeue. 23 If therefore when the whole Church that Christ died for our sinnes, according to the
