1-4 Settee is very British and used most frequently in the UK. Loo,
lift and pavement are also British.
5 The amount of zeros at the end of your bank balance is what really
matters in the USA. They also admire people who have ‘fulfilled the
American dream’. Whereas in Britain, being born into the right
family is, unfortunately, still very important.
6 In 99% of American movies if there is a British actor in the film
they will be playing the part of the baddy. In this case it would be
Christian Bale who is British for the bad guy and Brad Pitt as the
good guy.
7 Whooping and hollering is absolutely an American thing
(pronounced ‘thang’ in parts of the US). They like everyone to know
how much fun they are having!
8 The Brits have the ability to apologise for everything, sometime to
the point when it stops meaning anything. Americans are famed for
their ‘compensation culture’.
9 In the UK masculinity isn’t about how big your car is it’s about
how much control you have over the car. Automatic cars – no way
in the UK! Also, in the UK petrol is very expensive compared to the
USA where Americans can afford to purchase ‘gas guzzlers’.
