Once again, we caught the detail, the little
flamenco dancers, with their eyes wide open to catch every movement and every breath? Flamenco gets you in the deepest region of your soul; It's the dance of the gypsy and it is one of those dances that expresses one's feelings the most.
Spain has played a part in the history of gypsies for centuries and gypsies from around the world have flocked there to see the vestiges of their old European ancestors. However, migrations and wars have forced these gypsies to establish new camps and one of the most important ones is in France in the region we call “Camargue.” Not far from Marseille and not far from the Pyrenees either (about 5 hours), it is easy to understand why the gypsies have established camp there, in these beautiful grounds, where white horses roam around in total freedom.
Reminiscent of corridas, (bullfights), the flamenco, accompanied by the sound of guitars, is a part of everyday life. There is no evening at the camp fire without a dance, without a song. Guitars can cry all night, a cry that pierces your heart. Long
things, which make a flamenco dancer the queen of the evening. A feeling, a touch, a soul - that is what you can see in pictures.
There is a long story surrounding each bullfight in France - the hot sun during the summer, the pebbles rolling on the beach accentuating the sounds of the waves hitting the shore and the soft or wild Mistral (our French southern wind) are just a few of the souvenirs one can take away from a bullfight in Fréjus, in Arles or in Nîmes.
If you are like me, an aficionado of the beauty, the color and the ambiance that you can experience, you must go to one of these corridas.
