an American actress, singer and businesswoman. She was nominated for
the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer for her portrayal
of Helen Kane in the 1950 film Three Little Words, and her breakout role
was her first leading role, as Kathy Selden in Singin' in the Rain (1952).
Other successes include The Affairs of Dobie Gillis (1953), Susan Slept
Here (1954), Bundle of Joy (1956 Golden Globe nomination), The Catered
Affair (1956 National Board of Review Best Supporting Actress Winner),
Debbie Reynolds and Tammy and the Bachelor (1957), in which her performance of the song
"Tammy" reached number one on the Billboard music charts.

the era's changing attitudes towards sexuality. She was a top-billed actress
for only a decade, but her films grossed $200 million (equivalent to $2
billion in 2019) by the time of her death in 1962. More than half a century
Marilyn Monroe later, she continues to be a major popular culture icon.

2008) was an American actor and political activist. As a Hollywood star, he
appeared in almost 100 films over the course of 60 years. He
played Moses in the epic film The Ten Commandments (1956), for which he
received his first nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor –
Motion Picture Drama. He also starred in Touch of Evil (1958) with Orson
Welles, Ben-Hur (1959), for which he won the Oscar for Best Actor, El
Charlton Heston Cid (1961), and Planet of the Apes (1968). Heston was the five-term
president of the National Rifle Association (NRA), from 1998 to 2003.

She began her career as a child actress in the early 1940s, and was one of
the most popular stars of classical Hollywood cinema in the 1950s. She
continued her career successfully into the 1960s and remained a well-
known public figure for the rest of her life. In 1999, the American Film
Elizabeth Taylor Institute named her the seventh-greatest female screen legend.
