Wallis Simpson (born Bessie Wallis Warfield; 19 June 1896 – 24 April 1986),
was an American socialite divorcée whose intended marriage to the British
king Edward VIII caused a constitutional crisis that led to Edward's abdication.
After abdicating, the former king was created Duke of Windsor by his brother
and successor, King George VI. Wallis married Edward six months later, after
which she was formally known as the Duchess of Windsor.

Scotland, and King of Ireland from 27 March 1625 until his execution in 1649.
Charles believed in the divine right of kings, and was determined to govern
according to his own conscience. By the end of 1648 Oliver
Cromwell's Army had consolidated its control over England, and Charles
was tried, convicted, and executed for high treason The monarchy was
Charles I abolished and the Commonwealth of England was established as a republic.
