Levi and Catharine Coffin were legendary in helping many former slaves
escape to freedom in the North. Levi is often referred to as the President
Levi & Catharine Coffin of the Underground Railroad. During the 20 years they lived in Newport,
the Coffins helped more than 2,000 slaves reach safety. The Coffin house is
a registered National Historic Landmark.

Robert Sargent Shriver Jr. (November 9, 1915 – January 18, 2011) was an
American diplomat, politician, and activist. As the husband of Eunice
Kennedy Shriver, he was part of the Kennedy family. Shriver was the
driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, and founded the Job
Corps, Head Start, and other programs as the "architect" of the 1960s
"War on Poverty. He was the Democratic Party's nominee for vice
president in the 1972 presidential election.

William Jennings Bryan (March 19, 1860 – July 26, 1925) was an American
orator and politician from Nebraska. Beginning in 1896, he emerged as a
dominant force in the Democratic Party, running three times as the party's
nominee for President of the United States in the 1896, 1900,
and 1908 elections. He also served in the United States House of
William Jennings Bryan Representatives and as the United States Secretary of
State under Woodrow Wilson.

Orvon Grover "Gene" Autry (September 29, 1907 – October 2,
1998), nicknamed The Singing Cowboy, was an American singer,
songwriter, actor, musician and rodeo performer who gained fame largely
by singing in a crooning style on radio, in films, and on television for more
than three decades beginning in the early 1930s. Autry was the owner of a
television station, several radio stations in Southern California, and the Los
Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels Major League Baseball team from
Gene Autry 1961 to 1997.
